The fact that Tyson got his Maori facial tattoo just a week before the fight also threw the event into doubt. Any tattoo close to a fight is ill-advised as it can bleed or become infected. Yet Tyson was determined, originally wanting a bunch of hearts on his face (“I was going to be the man of hearts, baby”) until his tattoo artist convinced him that Maori warrior ink was a better look.

The question of a tattoo’s copyrightability had never been determined by the Supreme Court of the United States. Arguments in the alternative included that Tyson, by allowing them to use his likeness and not objecting to the plot device in The Hangover Part II, had given them an implied license, and that their use of the tattoo constituted fair why do boxers use boxing gloves as parody because it juxtaposed Tyson as “the epitome of male aggression” with the “milquetoast” Price. Scholar David Nimmer, participating an expert witness for Warner Bros., argued that treating tattoos as copyrightable would violate the Thirteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution as a badge of slavery; Nimmer’s declaration was then excluded because it was a legal opinion.

On his right forearm, Tyson has a dragon tattoo which is easily the most impressive of all his artwork. This is the one tattoo there is little information on, with nobody being sure of the tattoo artist or the actual meaning behind the tattoo. Tyson himself hasn’t discussed the ink but as The Sun detailed, “In Chinese culture, the dragon represents strength, wisdom, and freedom,” so it wouldn’t be a stretch to think Tyson knows this and wanted the tattoo to represent these things. Or maybe he just really likes dragons? We will never know until he comments on the artwork.

Ball (19-0-1, 11 KOs), 27, from Liverpool, England, entered the fight full of confidence after some impressive wins, including a points victory over former junior featherweight champion Isaac Dogboe in November.

Mike Tyson’s face tattoo has also found its way into the cinematic universe. Several filmmakers have sampled it on the big screen, with ‘Hang Over’ being one of the most famous portrayals. Actor Ed Helms inked the Tyson tattoo on his face as ‘The Baddest Man On The Planet’ also did a cameo in the film. Hence, it’s nothing new that Tyson’s face tattoo is grabbing attention, as it has been doing since its inception in 2003.

If getting a face tattoo isn’t strange enough, Tyson also has an original tattoo of Chinese leader Mao Zedong on his right arm. For those whose history is a little shabby, Mao Zedong was the founder of the People’s Republic of China. He remains a controversial figure, with the majority of Chinese citizens believing him a great leader for ending decades of civil war and reuniting the country as one, while the rest of the world sees him as a dictator whose rule resulted in the deaths of close to 80 million people through his policies.

Tyson defended his title twice more before his winning streak came to an end on February 11, 1990, when he lost his championship belt to Buster Douglas in Tokyo. Tyson, the clear favorite, sent Douglas to the mat in the eighth round, but Douglas came back in the 10th, knocking Tyson out for the first time in his career.

Zhang’s journey to the top echelons of boxing hasn’t been as illustrious as his opponents until his recent back-to-back victories over Joe Joyce, both secured via knockouts. While these wins showcased his potential, his track record includes losses to fighters like Filip Hrgovic and Joseph Parker. However, Zhang’s performance against Parker suggests he’s honing his skills and evolving as a competitor, making him a formidable opponent. Based on his showing against Parker, Zhang appears to have the edge heading into this matchup.
